The Prince Regent Suite

The Prince Regent Suite

If you are looking for accommodation with WOW factor you've found it !!!   We can't promise you that Prinnie actually stayed here and we are not even sure that there are records that he ever came to Cheltenham but if he did, Kingsmuir is the sort of house he might have visited for dinner !!  His carriage would have drawn up precisely in front of the wide cotswold stone enhanced entrance steps at the head of which the Butler would have been waiting having left his comfortable 'nook'.to escort him in   After removing his cloak in the outer hall ( Notice the ornate ceiling as you enter---but no butler's welcome  I'm afraid ) he would have passed throuhj the inner hall (more lovely Adam style ceiling decoration) into the Gentlemen's smoking room to be offered Claret or dry Madeira from crystal decanters on the whits marble mantle shelf---No such luck for you as you are in the master bedroom but the marble mantle is still there!---The Butler would then retire to his nook until dinner was to be served.

At precisely 8 of the clock the gong would sound. (It had a melodious deep boom but unfortunatly was stolen about 45 years ago.) and the Butler would throw open the door of the dining room to reveal a beautiful black marble fireplace, gleaming polished mahogany table with matching sideboard laden with victuals in silver and cut glass dishes all scintillating in the light of flickering candles.  You are now in the family bedroom, the table has gone,  to be replaced by comfortable modern (almost!) beds but thf black marble fireplace remains along with the ornate plasterwork ceiling. A discrete en suite toilet and wash hand basin are hidden by partitions to match the original room architecture.
